Semester One
Paul’s Letter to the Romans This in-depth expository study produces a good understanding of the basic foundations of the church. Special focus is placed on the righteousness of God in relation to the believer.
Lead in Teams Interactive work groups are designed to foster student’s care and respect for one another, and to offer practical opportunities for leadership of ministry teams and the development of teamwork.
Christian Ethics This subject will define what is meant by ethics in general and Christian ethics in particular. Students will be taught to apply basic biblical principles in determining their stance in a range of contemporary ethical situations.
Ministry and the Holy Spirit This is a time of ministry to the Lord and to one another in the Holy Spirit under the supervision of the VLIBTC staff. Opportunity is also given to observe giftings, and receive impartations from guest ministry.
Effective Evangelism Will show the student how to plan, organise, structure and conduct a successful evangelistic mission around the biblical model as shown by Jesus. Several different forms of evangelism to cater for different cultures, age groups, social and religious demographics and the spiritual climate will also be studied to determine the most effective methods. Students will also study the five-fold ministry office of the evangelist.
Faith Library Students study various faith topics to develop a mature understanding of how to apply biblical principles to life and ministry.
Marriage and the Family Students learn the biblical purpose of marriage, how to love one another, effectively communicate, establish priorities and understand others. Singles are encouraged to develop Godly relationships. Biblical parenting skills are also examined.
Practical Counselling Students are given practical instruction concerning the methods and application of Bible-based counselling required by the local church today. The practical application of these methods produces a greater sensitivity to the needs of others, improved listening skills and more effective and efficient ministry to people needing assistance.
Understanding Intercession An in-depth study of the scriptural foundation for the prayer of intercession. Biblical examples are examined and studied.
Eschatology This subject studies the return of Jesus and other end-time events from prophetic scriptures of the Old and New Testaments – especially Ezekiel, Daniel and Revelation. As expounded, the revelation in these books becomes open and clear to all, thus dispelling the fear and uncertainty that is often associated with this area of teaching.
Biblical Interpretation Students obtain a working knowledge of the principles of biblical interpretation. The application of these principles is encouraged in the student’s devotional and preparatory study of God’s Word.
The Proverbs A study of the Proverbs which contain Godly wisdom that is superior to natural wisdom and is supernatural in its source and power. Students are encouraged to review their way of life in the light of this Word and make adjustments as the Holy Spirit leads them to higher wisdom.
Christian Leadership A presentation of the biblical and practical principles concerning ministerial leadership applicable in the daily lives and ministries of God’s servants.
Understanding the Anointing Students learn about the anointing within and upon believers, as well as the corporate anointing. They will be taught and trained to recognise and flow with the anointing of the Holy Spirit in their lives and ministry.
Apologetics Christianity is a reasonable and defendable faith. Students are helped to understand and give a logical defence of their faith while confirming and extending their understanding of the truth and power of the gospel.
Semester Two
Angels and Demons A biblical study of the supernatural world and its inhabitants which includes both angels and demons. The origin, roles and limitations of these two groups of beings are studied with special emphasis on the believer’s authority in relation to both.
Apply Missions Missions are studied showing their importance and impact on the evangelism of the nations.

Church Government, Management and Administration This practical subject covers issues such as leadership structure, authority and delegation, the importance of clear communication and other basic management principles and practices.
Church History This subject provides an overview of the Christian Church from its inception to the present day. It majors on events as recorded in the New Testament and some of the significant personalities and events of the ensuing centuries which helped to shape the Church as we know it today.
Homiletics A study of the basic principles of the art of preaching as it pertains to the ministry. Personal application of these principles follows the study, which allows the students to organise themselves, their materials, and their God-given abilities in order to present the message of the gospel in an effective manner.

Practice Intercession This subject allows students opportunity to practice intercession in small groups. Opportunity is given to lead groups in prayer and to analyse and discuss group dynamics with help from the faculty.
Acts of the Apostles This is a study of the history and growth of the early church as it spread from Jerusalem to the uttermost parts of the Earth.
